The book was published in 1994 and became an international bestseller and was dramatised by British Broadcasting Corporation radio. The story revolves around Zana Muhsen and her sister Nadia Muhsen.

Boken är en självbiografi och är skriven av författaren själv, Zana Muhsen. Den gavs ut år 1994. Det var så här att jag lånade den andra delen av Såld som heter Ett löfte till Nadia och skulle läsa den för jag inte hittade någon bättre, men när en nära vän hade första delen tog jag hennes bok istället.
Zana Muhsen berättar om sitt gripande livsöde i boken från 1992. 26 000 kr var den summa som Zanas och Nadias pappa fick när han sålde sina döttrar till goda vänners söner i en bergsby i Jemen. Intet ont anande hade de två engelska tonårsflickorna kommit till faderns hemland för att tillbringa ett härligt sommarlov.
